Vibe Studios offers dance and performing arts classes that are both fun and educational. We strive to create an exciting and safe environment for dancers and performers to develop both their technique and their performance skills. Take dance for example, there is more to dancing than just being able to 'stick' a turn. A dancer's performance is equal in importance to their technique. We will strive to nurture the individual's performance quality (X-factor!). This is why our aim is to offer as many performance opportunities as possible, as well as two concerts per year.
Carnegie Jazz Ballet was established in 1978 and after a change of hands was run by Jaime (Krischunas) Richmond under the name of Vibe Studios. Vibe Studios operated out of Scout Halls and Church Halls for 2 years in Carnegie and Mooroolbark. Jaime's desire has always been to own and operate a purpose built facility for tuition in performing arts. After many years experience in performing, several years in teaching and a couple of years in operating a dance school, Jaime took pride in opening the Mooroolbark dance, cheer and performing arts studio... VIBE STUDIOS! 3 years on we are BIGGER and BETTER than EVER!

MUMMY and ME
For children aged 12 months - 2.5 years.
In this class parents are just as involved as the children! The aim of a MUMMY AND ME class is to share a special moment with your child. We use different music, instruments and props to help develop childrens' love for music and dance.
MUNCHKINS (Formerly Kinder Dance)
For children aged 2.5 -3.5 years.
There is a lot more to this class than just dancing! Children learn social and interactive skills, develop confidence, discover music and rhythm, become more aware of their bodies and space, improve coordination and so much more.
PRE PRIMARY
For children aged 3 - 5 years.
These classes are for those who have tried MUNCHKINS and want to develop a particular style but are still quite young. Those who have not started with MUNCHKINS but are in the age range are absolutely welcome to join one of these classes. Styles include Jazz, Tap, HipHop, Cheerleading and Ballet.
CLASSES for LITTLIES
We offer daytime and weekend classes for children aged 12 months and above. Children enroled in MUNCHKINS and PRE PRIMARY classes also get the opportunity to perform at a concert. (Not MUMMY AND ME students) Please go to the concert details page for more info.
Please contact us for information about coming to your school, kinder or child care center.
We encourage our little dancers to dress up and get excited about their dance classes. Therefore we accept fairy dresses, tou tous and regular old shorts and a t shirt! Bare feet are best for all classes except we do expect tap shoes to we worn and ballet shoes are also accepted.
JAZZ, CONTEMPORARY, STRETCH/TECHNIQUE AND TAP
Dance pants, leggings or shorts accompanied with a tank top or leotard is acceptable. Bare feet, foot undies, black split sole jazz shoes or jazz runners/boots are the accepted footwear. Bare feet is acceptable only for the initial few weeks of tap, then black tap shoes are required.
HIP HOP, BREAK AND BOYS ONLY
Basically, if you can move and stretch in it, it is acceptable. Trackies and tank tops are acceptable, but NO denim. It is important to make sure you can stretch. Runners are recommended footwear. We also suggest soft knee pads to protect knees during floor work.
JAZZ EXAM CLASSES
In exam classes it is vital for the teacher to be able to see the body. Therefore, we require a leotard to be worn. Students can wear any colour and style and have the option of wearing bike shorts, tights or tight leggings in class. A set uniform is required for exam day and can be purchased from the studio. Black split sole jazz shoes are also required for exam day and we suggest practicing in them during class.
At Vibe Studios we don't believe in having a set uniform for classes. Students should be able to show their own personalities through their style and clothing. However, we do require suitable clothing for dance, including minimal jewellery and hair out of faces. Students participating in examinations require a set uniform on exam day.
BALLET
When you look the part, you feel the part. This is why we require wearing leotards, tights, wrap skirts and wrap tops for these classes. It is vital for the teacher to be able to see the alignment and shapes that the student is making. Therefore, baggy clothes are unacceptable. Ballet shoes must be worn. Hair must be in a bun.
CHEERLEADING
Leggings or shorts accompanied with a tank top or leotard is acceptable. Teams aged Under 12 and above are expected to purchace the Vibe Cheerleading uniform for performances and competitions. Members will be measured for uniforms at training. Our teams wear Kaepa Jump or Kaepa Sky cheerleading shoes, as they provide support for stunting. You must purchase these independently. We have found them online at Ebay, www.sportech.com.au and www.head2toecheer.com. Members of younger non-competitive cheer teams that do not wish to purchase the Kaepa shoes are asked to wear firm fitting, secure and clean runners.
Vibe Studios have tank tops, crop tops, shorts and jackets available to purchase. These can be worn to class and jackets are compulsory for troupe team members participating in competitions and performances. We have 2 styles of jackets, Cheer and Break!
CONCERTS
At Vibe Studios we put on two concerts per year. Our mid-year concert is held in June and our end of year concert is held in December. Friends and family members are invited to celebrate and enjoy the hard work the students have put in during the year. Performances are held at the George Wood Theatre at Yarra Valley Grammar, Kalinda Rd, Ringwood. We have a number of encouragement awards and examination certificates to present at the December concerts. We have a separate concert for our Munchkin and Pre-Primary students. At these concerts students sit with parents in the audience until their turn to perform. They are then invited up onto the stage to do their thing! These performances are a low key, low stress way to introduce young students to the joy of performing.
We have 3 performances on the one day. We start with our classes of school aged and over students in the morning. They then go home for a rest while we have a performance with the Munckins and Pre Primary students. Finally our older students come back for their evening performance. Students in the older show are expected to perform at BOTH the morning AND evening shows. All students are expected to perform in the concerts but if you are going away or are unable to attend you must let Vibe know asap as costuming begins early during term 1 and 3!
END OF YEAR DRESS REHEARSAL DECEMBER 4th
