school aged & Above

We have classes for every level in a range of styles

For students that are attending primary school, high school, or have even finished schooling altogether, we have so many class options! For those wanting to take dance and cheer more seriously, we have competitive teams for Hip Hop, Pom, Jazz, Lyrical, and Cheer. For those that are not after the extra commitment but still love to dance and cheer, we have plenty of recreational classes to choose from.

Most of these classes participate in our mid-year and end-of-year concerts. Students still get the fun of learning routines each week and developing their dance and cheer ability in a fun and supportive environment. We love to welcome everyone to our tribe even if you have had no experience at all. It’s never too late to learn to dance or cheer!

LEARN MORE ABOUT THESE CLASSES BELOW!

ACRO

In acro classes, students work on their flexibility and learn acrobatic skills that can be incorporated into dance routines. Some of these skills include chin stands, cartwheels, walkovers, and aerials.

all abilities *

We are very proud to offer special abilities dance classes to both children and adults. At Vibe Studios, we believe that everyone deserves to love dance. Our All Ability dance lessons are very interactive. We work to enhance the gross and fine motor skills of all participants whilst having lots of fun at the same time.

ballet *

Ballet is the foundation of dance and is the most technical class a dancer can participate in. We highly recommend ballet classes for those who wish to take their dance more seriously. In our ballet classes, students work on posture, breathing, balance, strength, flexibility, weight transference, and general ballet technique. The strength and control learned in these classes are an incredibly valuable asset to any dance style.

BArre Fitness

This is a fun and energetic workout class that fuses techniques from dance, pilates, and yoga together. It works on toning and defining the whole body. It utilizes the ballet barre and is the perfect combination of strength and flexibility.

Break

Break dancing, also referred to as b-boying/b-girling, is an athletic style of street dance. It is typically set to hip hop music and consists mainly of four kinds of movement: toprock (foot movement performed from a standing position), downrock (floor-based footwork), power moves (relying on speed, momentum, and acrobatic elements), and freezes (halting all body motion).

CECCHETTI BALLET EXAM CLASSES

At Vibe Studios, we learn the Cecchetti syllabus. Cecchetti is an internationally recognised system of training which offers:

  • a gradually built, sound ballet technique while encouraging a love of music and dance

  • a graded, developmental syllabus, relevant to today’s children

  • a system to suit the young beginner right through to the pre-professional dancer

  • further opportunities with specialised master classes by leading professionals

  • exclusive competitions throughout the year

  • a high standard in its teacher training program

  • extensive continual professional development opportunities for its teachers

  • assurance that teachers hold the qualifications necessary to correctly educate both the recreational student and the dancers of tomorrow.

Cecchetti Ballet Australia has been training ballet teachers and students since 1934 and is taught at many leading dance schools including the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School and the Ministry of Dance. In these classes, students are taught set exercises that are aimed at developing their ballet technique. Students who are ready have the option of performing these exercises in front of a Cecchetti examiner at the Ministry of Dance. They receive a report that is written up by the examiner with a mark, as well as a certificate. Our Cecchetti program is overseen by Miss Claire, who brings a wealth of knowledge to our studio.

Cheer *

This is a fast-paced class that involves a lot of teamwork. The elements of cheerleading include stunting, tumbling, jumps, pyramids, and dance. You can expect to learn a little bit of everything in our cheer classes.

Cheer TROUPE **

For those that want to take their cheerleading more seriously, we have cheer troupes that students must audition for and be accepted into. Click here to find out more.

COMMERCIAL/HEELS *

In this class, students learn to dance in high heels. They learn to do so in a commercial style that combines the styles of jazz and hip hop to produce the sexy and energetic style that is seen in video clips and commercial performances. It gives dancers a little bit more freedom and allows them to express their personal style.

CONTEMPORARy/lyrical *

Our contemporary classes are for those who are after something different. It is hard to define what contemporary dance is because it is so unique. It involves elements from all other styles of dance however has less structure and therefore allows the dancer to dance more freely and expressively. A contemporary routine can range from a soft, slow, and pretty piece to a fast-paced, sharp, and spooky piece.

HIP Hop *

Hip hop is a street dance that is primarily performed to hip hop music. The commercialisation of hip hop means that it can now be seen in film clips by music artists such as Chris Brown and Jason Derulo. Though hip hop is established in entertainment, it maintains a strong presence in urban neighborhoods which has led to the creation of street dance derivatives like Baltimore, jerkin', krumping, and c-walking. In our hip hop classes, students are taught a range of different elements to form an urban-focused routine.

HIP HOP TROUPE **

For those that want to take their hip hop more seriously, we have hip hop troupes that students must audition for and be accepted into. Click here to find out more.

Musical Theatre *

This is a very fun class that combines elements of singing, acting and dancing. In these classes, students practice these skills to soundtracks from popular musicals such as 'Wicked', 'Matilda' and 'Aladdin'.

POINTE *

Pointe is traditional ballet. This class involves dancing in pointe shoes on the tips of fully extended feet. To take part in this class, dancers must have great ballet experience and must also see and gain approval from a physio and a podiatrist.

POM TROUPE **

For dancers with a high level of ballet & jazz technique, we have pom troupes that students must audition for and be accepted into. Pom is a very technical dance style that focuses heavily on strength to create striking visuals. Of course, these visuals are created with pom poms. Click here to find out more.

Popping & Locking *

This class combines the two styles of popping and locking. Popping is based on contracting and relaxing muscles to cause jerks in the dancer's body. Locking basically means freezing from a fast movement and "locking" in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing at the same speed as before. Our students learn the basics of body isolations and groves in their popping and locking classes.

Pre-Pointe

This class is for students who want to work towards dancing on pointe but are not quite ready yet. Students work on exercises that are aimed at strengthening and building upon their technique.

At Vibe Studios, we offer the Southern Federation of Dance syllabus in the style of jazz. In these classes, students are taught set exercises that are aimed at developing their jazz technique. Students who are ready have the option of performing these exercises in front of an SFD examiner who comes to Vibe Studios. They receive a report that is written up by the examiner with a mark, as well as a certificate and a badge.

In these classes, students use the sounds of their tap shoes by striking the floor as a form of percussion. One of the benefits of participating in tap classes is learning to understand timing and rhythm. This is of benefit to all other styles of dance.

Tumbling

In this class, students work on their tumbling skills that are required for cheerleading and useful for dance. Some of these skills include cartwheels, walkovers, handsprings, tucks and layouts.
